A ROADMAP FOR RUMEN MICROBIAL GENOMICS RESEARCH
During the recent workshop jointly organised by RuminOmics and the RMG Network, there was the suggestion that a document be prepared that might provide a convenient and simple ‘roadmap' for those researchers new to rumen microbial genomics by providing a helpful resource with up-to-date methods. The attached report titled ‘A report in support of the Rumen Microbial Genomics (RMG) Network describing standard guidelines and protocols for data acquisition, analysis and storage' is now available for general feedback. It aims to provide a broad summary of useful methods and protocols as an entry point for those who are new to Rumen Microbial Genomics Research and a vehicle to highlight well-established methods that are currently in use by the rumen microbiology research community that bridge the gap between animal scientists and microbiologists. The report covers many of the nine short presentations made in the first morning session of the joint RuminOmics RMG Network workshop meeting and has links to the presentations themselves and other helpful websites and references.
